My Fairytale - Part Two (Continued)
Foolish, she knew, but a part of her really thought there was something left to save. He said he loved her, they went about as though they were a couple... the only difference was that they didn't have the official label. He still made her feel like his world.
The Princess kept fighting for her love, until one night, in mid-January, when her citizens started to whisper about foul-play... rumours that while Emma had been sick in bed on New Years Eve, the Prince had been in the Woods with Verity. The Princess confronted the Prince, who shouted at her for not trusting him, and then she confronted Verity, who finally admitted that the pair had kissed on New Years Eve. Emma fell apart. She locked herself up in the highest tower of the kingdom, with CuCu fighting her hardest, trying to make the Princess move on.
The Princess finally spoke to Verity on the Eve of her birthday, only to discover that Verity and the Prince had been together all along. When he had been seeing Emma for 5 weeks, he had also been seeing Verity. The Princess cursed herself for not contacting Verity in all that time, knowing then that the terrible events were partly her fault... She should never have put her friend on hold to try and save her love. The Princess and the Prince had a huge fight, in which he made it clear that he felt nothing for her any more. This time, the Princess realised that she had nothing left to fight for. This was no sorcerors curse... this was life.
Emma woke up on her 18th birthday with a heavy heart. However, she went to school and Cucu, Gemla, Emilie, Cazonline and her friends were all there, full of love, with cakes, balloons, presents and everything a princess could need. As the day went on, the stronger she felt... as she partied with her friends, she looked around herself. She was SURROUNDED by love... and she felt foolish for locking herself up for so long. She couldn't believe what she had almost lost in pursuit of her happily ever after.
Emma took some time, and then eventually she contacted Verity and the ex-Prince Charming. She realised she could not hate them - God had blessed her with a love that not everyone experiences, who was she to say that he took it away too soon? She realised her relationship had been naive. She had loved her Prince, of course, but it was not the end of the world, losing him. Though she had moments where she felt she could not go on, she got stronger and stronger every day... She started to let the people she loved see the real her, the one she had hidden from everyone, even herself, all along. She realised that her mother was a lot more wise and helpful then she had ever given her credit for - her sister much less annoying and much more caring than she could have expected - She wished Verity and Prince the best of luck, and tried to be happy that the two people she loved most in the world, had found that crazy, makes you go weak at the knees kind of love... Who was she to stand in the way of that? She had had her chance, and she lost it, because...
Because she spent over a year of her life dedicated to believing that if the Prince loved her enough, he could love her enough for the both of them. On her birthday, she had a moment of great CLARITY, when she realised that she was going to have to start looking out for herself for a while. She realised she could not expect anyone else to love her until she started to love herself... So she did.
So she and Cucu and a whole host of her friends lived and learnt and loved, and are still doing so to this day, in their magical kingdom, far away... Because Emma finally realised something. The void inside of her was self created, by her need to find her happily ever after.
She finally realised there is NO such thing as a happily ever after.. There is just now... but that can be pretty amazing too...
Princess Emma took off her crown, and joined her citizens, finally letting them see her as she really was... a little geeky, a big ol' book worm, a music fanatic, a vulnerable but happy lady... She started to take a chance, and if people didn't like her, then fuck them -
She was the princess, after all...
And then, finally... Emma started living.
(Not even nearly...) THE END

Author's Note -
I don't feel everything I felt when I wrote this now. I still feel some things... it's just something I needed to write at the time, it's not supposed to be some great contribution... This was just my heart at the time.
I can never put part 1 and part 2 together, though I'm not entirely sure why. Perhaps because I feel I had a lot taken away from me in part 2... I want part 1 to have been real...
